The governing body

We are delighted to introduce you to the dedicated individuals who form the governing body, playing a crucial role in shaping the educational landscape for students with special needs in our community. Their expertise, passion, and commitment make a significant impact on the success and development of our schools.

Through their dedication and oversight, the governing body ensures that our schools maintain the highest standards of educational excellence, inclusivity, and student support. They collaborate with the leadership team to review and evaluate the effectiveness of our programs, striving for continuous improvement.

The Instrument of Government (Updated in May 2024) states that the Governing Body shall consist of 11 Governors (2 Parents, 1 Headteacher, 1 Local Authority, 1 Staff and 7 Co-opted Governors).

Local Authority Governors are nominated by the Local Authority and appointed by the Full Governing Body. Parent Governors are elected by parents at both schools and Staff Governors are elected by staff at both schools.

All Governors’ terms of office are 4 years.

The Full Governing Body follow the circular model of governance. All minutes, with the exception of confidential minutes, are available upon request made to the Clerk to Governors.
